Incan Hill Country

Fresh back from an inspiring honeymoon in Peru, I can't help but try and influence some of the upcoming Wimberley construction with some things I saw there. Since I'll soon be doing a lot of exterior site work such as stone paths and retaining walls, why not apply a few lessons learned from the Incan stone masters?

This photo shows a structure the Incans used as burial chambers for their leaders. It looks less than perfect now because it was struck by lightning, since the stone contains high amounts of iron, which of course is conductive to electricity.

Memo to self:
1- Check stones for iron content.
2- Keep all stone structures less than 30' tall.
3- Don't bother building burial chamber. Consider cremation.
