Paultry Pantry

I'm slowly getting the stained wood up in the house, and the pantry seemed like a pretty important area to do first. Until I got it done, that is. Then I realized that we didn't really have very much to put on those pretty new shelves. So far cat food and breakfast cereal are the big attractions. Guess it's time for a big trip to the grocery store to stock up. I'll be looking for anything with expiration dates far, far away...

Trim

There is a boatload of oak trim sitting on the living room floor now, waiting to be installed as baseboard, window sill, etc. Some of it will have to wait many months, but we have sanded, stained, polyurethaned, and installed a bit of it already.

Job number one was the guest bedroom window- done first to allow for these wood blinds to be installed. No more early morning blasts of light for our pampered quests.

The second area was the long living room window sill, important because Ann spends a lot her her time sitting there in a chair with her feet propped up on it. And you can see that Apollo frequently hangs out there, usually freaking out over the the birds on a nearby feeder. Alex helped me get the door trim started this past weekend; one side down, twenty or so to go. So the boatload pile of wood is now a tiny bit smaller. I'm thinking it's time for a house trimming party.

Not so mello cello

Nothing like a beginner's cello practice on Sunday morning to wake up the neighbors! No telling what kind of dying animal they thought was making the racket...
