Home is where the mantle is

I just installed this cedar mantle to get the living room one step closer to completion. Now all we need is some nice cold weather, a warm glow from the fireplace, a cup of hot chocolate, and a cozy wool blanket and we are set. Oh, I forgot to mention that it is 108 degrees in the Austin area today.

Twice as much Stair fun

Installing the stair tread and riser wood is kind of interesting at first, but doing all 18 of them is not anywhere near fun. The solution? Con someone else into helping out with the work, which makes it a lot more bearable. In this case my son Alex, visiting for the weekend. Tom Sawyer would be so proud of me.
