Happy Cows

Near the end of this summer's nasty drought, the cows roaming our neighborhood were getting thirsty.  Really thirsty.  I looked out of this window overlooking the birdbath and saw them drinking it dry.  I went outside to scare them away since they have destroyed two other birdbaths, but they would not leave.  Unlike in the Chick Fillet commercials, these guys did not hold up signs scrawled with wise guidance as to what they wanted me to do. After some time I realized that they expected me to refill the birdbath with water for them, which I finally did as you can see in the second photo.  A few hundred gallons later they were finally full.  I had no idea how much water one cow could drink, but the next time I see them gathering there I'm gonna pretend like I'm not home, like I do on Halloween after all the candy is gone.

Hammock Time

Yesterday my friend Mark Danna tested out our newest addition to our "outdoor thing to do" list on our Wimberley property.  This double hammock is located in between three bird feeders, so I'm hoping that once the birds are accustomed to the it that it will be a great place to watch them from.
