Fancy Accomodations

All of  our other birdhouses are homemade, but I saw this one at the lovely Cibolo Nature Center in nearby Boerne and decided to give it a try.  And this past weekend we saw some birds already building a nest!  This qualifies as a major life event at our place, and I'll be trying to identify and get a photograph of the proud new occupants as soon as I can...  

BTW, note the fancy snake guard beneath the house which should thwart the lousy tree snakes which have previously invaded some of our bird houses.

Look Twice

This fox is one of many regular visitors we have who eat the birdseed tossed out from our ten bird feeders.  It blends in so well with the garden wall rocks that it can take a moment to realize he is there at all.  Of all of the critters we have at our place, these are my favorite.
